Who we are ... 
        Alex Pavlenko: Alex has been manufacturing mattresses for over 20 years. Alex is originally from Korosten, Ukraine. He came to the United States in the winter of 1989 with his sister’s family, $94 in his pocket and a small suitcase. Alex came to the U.S. with high hopes of her many opportunities knowing that he could create a better life for himself and future family and refused to be dependent upon the government system.   Not knowing but a few words of English and having been a tailor in his homeland. Alex immediately set out to find work. “I always had a passion for sewing …” he declared as he accepted a job at Simmons Mattress Company in. Alex worked hard and excelled steadily within the company until 2004 when he accepted the Production Manager position at King Koil Mattress Company of Connecticut until 2008. That summer, Alex left the security of employment to fulfill his life’s dream, own his own business. Today, Alex with his years of expertise and numerous friends in the industry has created Sigma Mattress Factory.

        Jim O’Hara: Jim grew up within the furniture industry. His grandfather owned Bailey Wagner, a retail chain of Western Massachusetts. In 1989 Jim left the family business and joined the staff at Hampden Furniture in downtown Springfield. Working in both the showroom and coordinating customer service, Jim learned first hand the value of a hand-crafted piece. In 2000 Jim joined Jack and Sandy Clarke at the Apartment Shops in West Springfield, a cutting edge retailer in the bedding industry. They offered unique mattress products consisting of waterbeds, futons, natural latex foam, adjustable air mattresses and what is now know simply as memory foam. Joining Sigma Mattress Factory in 2009, Jim brings a non-conventional perspective to a traditional product.

What we do …
        Sigma Mattress Factory hand crafts each mattress using only the finest American products. No cutting corners, no skimping on materials, no inferior products, no disgruntled employees, no excuses … just a hand crafted mattress using old world know how at a very reasonable price. Alex and Jim are in business to offer you the very best mattress for years of service. Sigma Mattress Factory is not a huge chain of trained robots cranking out items that give them the greatest commission. Sigma Mattress Factory is a couple of guys, using their years of experience, manufacturing mattresses one at a time to provide a tremendous night sleep to customers who soon become friends.

        The Lord is awesome! We have to give all the credit to HIM. He brought us together at a critical time in the development of Sigma Mattress Factory and by His grace we have opportunities to impact the lives of many people. We have had the privilege to laugh with people, weep with people and pray with people the Lord brings our way. It’s exciting to think that Sigma Mattress Factory also offer a product that helps determine the outlook of people’s lives daily and hopefully eternally.
